My Approach
At Wit and Wisdom Therapy, we believe in a straightforward and effective approach to mental well-being, focusing on what truly matters: you.
As a qualified integrative therapist I am able to use a 'mix and match' approach to therapy, rather than relying on just one therapeutic approach - I made a choice to study in this manner as I believe that it is the therapist duty to adjust their way of working to suit the individual, rather than trying to make the individual 'fit' your chosen way of working.
In this way a bespoke package of therapy can be offered to suit: I work with CBT, Psychodynamic and Person Centred approaches, as well as using hypnotherapy when it is appropriate and desired.
Bsically, as humans we are multifaceted, and to my way of thinking in order to support you I need to work in a multifaceted way!

Our "Less Woo, More You" philosophy translates into therapy sessions that prioritise genuine connection and real talk.Moving away from abstract theories and focusing on building a strong, collaborative alliance between two real people.
Theories serve as a foundation for understanding your situation, but the true healing happens in the therapeutic relationship.
What you will be assured of is genuine warmth, opennesss, honesty and real curiosity about how the world looks through your eyes. As an integrative counsellor, I am able to tailor your sessions using a variety of different therapeutic approaches, including CBT, Person Centred and Psychodynamic theories, I can also utilise hypnotherapy if we both agree that you would benefit from that; and that is the key - I am not here to tell you, any work that is carried out is done as a genuine collaboration between you and I in the therapy room. After all, it is your life - not mine!
This is true whoever you are, and whatever issues you bring to the therapy room you will find a confidential space, where you are supported unconditionally,honestly and with empathy.

Who I Work With
I work with adults facing a wide array of life situations, and possess significant experience in school settings with young adults aged 11-18. My effectiveness stems from honesty, openness, and a genuine curiosity about your thoughts, feelings, and circumstances. This approach has consistently helped individuals navigate various life struggles.

Your First Session: What to Expect
Whether online or face-to-face, your first session is designed to be a 'let's get to know each other' meeting. You're invited to share (if you feel comfortable) what has been or is happening in your life. Together, we'll explore your feelings, thoughts, and actions related to these experiences.
Following this, we will decide together, how we proceed - but even then how we work together can change and adapt to suit your need, fluidity is key!

Addressing Misconceptions About Therapy
Therapy is not a 'quick fix' or a 'magic pill'. My role as a therapist is to understand the world 'through your eyes'. I offer support, validation, and guidance using a bespoke blend of psychotherapeutic techniques including CBT, Psychodynamic, and Person-Centred therapy. As a qualified hypnotherapist, I can also incorporate hypnotherapy into the treatment plan when appropriate and desired.
